THE NATIONAL SECURITY COMMANDMENT FOR THE NATO SUMMIT- BUCHAREST 2008 IS READY FOR THE MISSION
• The
documents and plans regarding the Summit security will be forwarded
this week to The Supreme Council of National Defense (CSAT) in order to
be approved
The National Security Commandment for the NATO Summit
- Bucharest 2008 has finalized the Security Concept of the event that
will take place in April; the stages that follow are the evaluation,
preparing and training of the forces participant in the security
disposition. The documents that will be forwarded to CSAT were issued
in compliance with both NATO standards and the Memorandum concluded by
NATO International Task Force with our country.
The National Security Commandment for the NATO Summit
is made up of high representatives of The Ministry of Defense (MoD) The
Ministry of the Interior and of the Administrative Reform (MIRA), The
Protection and Guard Service (SPP) The Romanian Intelligence Service
(SRI) The Foreign Intelligence Service (SIE) The Special
Telecommunication Service (STS) and The National Register Office for
State Secret Information (ORNISS);The National Security Commandment for
the NATO Summit has, as a main responsibility, the obligation to
provide security during the preparation and the development of the
Summit in Bucharest.
On the near future agenda of the Commandment are the following activities:
- visits of the lead advance groups of the countries participant in the summit for a presentation of the security measures and for field reconnaisance activities regarding the security objectives and dispositions;
- joint training sessions of the security forces involved in organizing and ensuring the development in good conditions of the event in Bucharest;
- general simulation of the security measures that will be taken during the days of the Summit.
The members of The National Security Commandment for the NATO Summit provide, on a permanent basis:
- risk assessment in the security context created by the preparation and development of the NATO Summit 2008;
- check on the operative and action abilities, involved in the security activity;
- coordonation of the joint training activities, of the experience exchange sessions of the staff involved in organizing the Summit.
The National Security Commandment for the NATO Summit
ensures the citizens that the implementation of the security measures
necessary for the development in good conditions of the Summit, in
April, will not hinder or disturb the every day activities of the
population. The general security concept considered imposing, to the
smallest extent possible, fundamental rights and liberties restriction.
So that the population may be well and timely
informed about the activities concerning the security of the NATO
Summit, during its preparation and development, The National Security
Commandment for the NATO Summit established The Media Group for
Security News about the NATO Summit
The group is made up of specialists in communication
and public relations of the institutions involved in providing security
for the Summit; the group will broadcast news as a news agency.
Information of interest for the media and for the
citizens concerning traffic and its restrictions, parking, special
protection measures for the delegations, etc. will be found on the web
page for security news, on the official site of the NATO Summit in
Bucharest (www.summitbucharest.ro).
