Meeting of the UN dignitaries with the SPP officers that are leaving for Darfur
Sir David Veness, the first deputy secretary of UN on
issues of protection and security, who is visiting Romania, met the SPP
officers that are leaving for Darfur-Sudan on a UN mission next week.
The 12 SPP officers mission is to provide protection and security for the high UN officials that are deployed in Sudan.
The high UN dignitary spoke about the latest
operational information with the protective security detail that is to
leave for Darfur and settled together with them the first measures that
are to be undertaken when the UN team arrives in Darfur.
Sir David Veness congratulated the SPP officers for
their training and their high level of knowledge in the field of
protection (for UN dignitaries) and wished them success in all
protective actions that they are going to organize for a year in Darfur.
The UN official thanked the SPP management for the
professionalism of the teams that are already developing missions of
protection for UN dignitaries in the areas of missions in Sudan and
Afghanistan. At present SPP has got 24 officers employed for UN
missions deployed in Kabul and Khartoum.
