    • For the first time, the Protection and Guard Service attends the Annual Conference of the European Network for the Protection of Public Figures (ENPPF)

Between 08-10 October 2007, the Annual Conference of the European Network for the Protection of Public Figures was held in Berlin.
The representatives of the Protection and Guard Service attended for the first time the meeting of the heads of protection services in the European Union member states.
The European Network for the Protection of Public Figures was set up in November 2002 on the basis of a Decision by the EU Council, having as a goal the enhancement of cooperation among the protection agencies during the official visits performed by the public figures of the member states.
The purpose of the meeting was to improve the exchange of intelligence information and create a data base which should contain information about activities of terrorist organizations, organized crime and cross-border criminal groups, as such activities could constitute a threat against the life and integrity of dignitaries.
The following issues were on the conference agenda:
- the establishment of a unique encryption system of communication between the services in charge of the dignitary protection in the EU member states;
- stabilirea unor strategii europene unice de protecție a personalităților;
- the standardization of the training and selection procedures for the protection officers;
- the establishment of procedures for carrying guns during operations abroad.
The Protection and Guard Service is also represented in the Committee of the Association of Personal Protection Services (APPS), having oversight and coordination prerogatives, as a founding member.
