On Romania’s National Day, the Protection and Guard Service is marching under the Triumphal Arch
On 1 December, the officers of the Protection and
Guard Service will join the other Romanian officers in their march,
with 2 official motorcades used for the movement and protection of the
dignitaries.
The official motorcades are special formations for
the dignitary protection and are composed of a lead advance vehicle and
follow cars, accompanied by 5 military motorcyclists.
The vehicles have special technical features, being
equipped with bullet- and bomb-proof devices, and the members of the
protective detail are trained in special conditions in order to counter
potential attacks against the dignitaries.
The Protection and Guard Service is a state body with
functions in the field of national safety, specialized in providing
protection for the Romanian dignitaries and the foreign dignitaries
during their stay in Romania.
As of 2004, officers of the Protection and Guard
Service provide protection for the UN dignitaries who carry out
missions in the theatres of operations in Afghanistan and Sudan.
Currently, 36 officers from the Protection and Guard Service are on UN
missions in Khartoum, Darfur and Kabul.
In order to carry out its missions, the Service of
Protection and Guard comprises structures specialized in providing
protection for the dignitaries, antiterrorist intervention and EOD
tasks, which are necessary for preventing and countering actions that
endanger the life, physical integrity, health and freedom of action of
the protected dignitaries.
On the occasion of the National
Day, the Service of Protection and Guard wishes a warm “HAPPY
ANNIVERSARY!” to all Romanians.
