S.P.P. participates in the peacekeeping missions
Militaries of The Protection and Guard Service will leave for Sudan and Afghanistan in order to participate in UN missions, in the operational theatres in these areas.
Two teams made up of SPP officers will be deployed to the operational theatres in Sudan and Afghanistan, according to the procedure of staff rotation, within missions UNMIS and UNAMA.
Throughout April, 2009, these officers participated in a training session, at the UN level which ended in an evaluation, done by the SAT team. (Security Assessment Team). After the training session, all Romanian militaries got the best qualifications and also the approval to carry out missions under the aegis of UNO.
Taking into account the complexity of the activities carried out, it is worth mentioning that more than a half of the team members accomplished protection and guard missions in the operational theatres. The participation of the militaries in the SPP missions abroad is on a voluntary basis, provided that their professional training is at the highest level.
Starting with 2004, UNO signed a memorrandum with SPP, with a view to providing protection for the UN high officials who develop their activity in Sudan and Afghanistan.
