MISSIONS OF THE PROTECTION AND GUARD SERVICE

The Protection and Guard Service is a state body with functions in the field of national security and has the following missions:

The persons having the right for protection and the objectives that are guarded by the Protection and Guard Service are established by the Supreme Council of National Defense through its own functioning and organization regulation.

With a view to fulfill the established missions (by the law), the Protection and Guard Service organizes and executes activities in order to prevent and counter any types of actions that could pose a threat to life, physical integrity, freedom of action and the health of the people whose protection it provides.

The Protection and Guard Service is able, through the law, to organize and develop certain activities for gathering, checking and using the necessary information for the good proceeding of its own activities.

At the same time, the Protection and Guard Service may perform independently or in cooperation with other state bodies (foreseen by the law) missions for hindering and countering the terrorist actions against the persons whose protection it provides.

In order to fulfill the established missions, through law provisions, the Protection and Guard Service cooperates with the Ministry of Defense, Ministry of Administration and of Interior, the Romanian Intelligence Service, the Foreign Intelligence Service, the Service of Special Telecommunications, other ministries and structures of the local and central public administration..

During the specific missions that request the cooperation with other institutions, the Protection and Guard Service coordinates the activity of all the participant forces.
